Objective:
Part of our mission statement includes “to advance the careers of
dental assistants”. In accord
with that mission, the objective of this program is to serve as role models and
retain students as active members of NCDAA after graduation and entering the
dental workforce.
1)
A
minimum of 5 years experience in the dental assisting field
2)
A
member of NCDAA in good standing
3)
Served
on a local or state committee
4)
Attended
at least two Annual Sessions
Responsibilities:
Being a mentor allows lots of room for creativity on your
part. Your main objective is
to spend a little time taking a personal interest in your student,
communicating with them and introducing them to NCDAA. Here are a few
suggestions:
1)
Invite
them to accompany you to local meetings
2)
Involve
them in your committees and explain how they function
3)
Assist
them in studying for tests and exams as needed
4)
Invite
them to accompany you to Board Meetings
5)
Invite
them to visit your office
6)
Address
problems they may be having in their studies (i.e. pouring and trimming models,
making temporaries, etc….)
7)
Ask
their instructors for suggestions on how to help
Remember,
whatever amount of time
you have to volunteer
would be appreciated!
